Planning a trip to lake Caddo and need advice from those who have been there and are familiar with the area lodging, restaurants and ramps. My wife will be with me and I wanted to avoid any surprises or disappointments if possible. Looking for the best option for convenience to boat ramp, clean rooms and good places to eat. Anything else you can think of that will make the trip enjoyable. Plan to pull my 19' glass boat for getting on the water but fishing is not the priority on this trip. Will be more of exploring the beauty of the lake and sight seeing. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Scary-I was just looking at places to stay on Caddo (with my wife) and First Cast is the first place I bookmarked. Looks very nice. I also found a place called Spatterdock which looks decent. https://www.spatterdock.com/index.html

Spent about a week at First Cast last year. We loved it. Great place.
We have stayed at the Moon Glow group of cabins and enjoyed those as well.

Thanks Mark.....can you park a 20ft bassboat easily/secure enough at First Cast? Thought we would take our boat, park it, get a guide for the first half day to get our bearings, then fish the rest of the weekend in our boat.

It takes a little more time to weave it through trees lining driveway but still very easy. Actually has an attached carport with lights right by door of cabin you can back it in at.

A member of MBC swears by Spatterdock. The pictures i have seen of his cabin rentals there are beautiful!

This is all great information to help decide where to stay and eat on a trip to Caddo! Appreciate it!
Easy or hard to navigate glass boat on Caddo? Boat runs marked? Stumps?

Boat lanes are marked, though following them at times can prove challenging (to me).
Stumps? EVERYWHERE, and it is SHALLOW!
Watch for on-coming traffic, and watch for the turns. Make sure that you have GPS, because you can get "lost".
Everything looks fishy... Get out near some of the deeper water or different grass flats, drop your TM and go fishing...

Easy or hard to navigate glass boat on Caddo? Boat runs marked? Stumps? For the most part if I am outside the Shady Glade area or outside marked lanes I just go slow. Its a beautiful lake and I enjoy just being out there about as much as the fishing.

if you are not in the boat lanes, you want to idle. There is rebar sticking up all over the lake and with the water up a little now, most will be just under the water..

Do not pass up the River Bend restaurant. Hushpuppies, coleslaw and beans to get you started! They are great!

If you want it to be a, wife & you trip. Look into booking one of the State Park log cabins. Yes it's rustic but it maybe something both of you will remember. We do. River Bend is a must do while at Caddo.
