Every year I grow zucchini plants in my garden and every year the squash vine borer destroy all my plants. I decided this year that instead of just killing all the larva, I would take them out and use them as bait. Turns out bluegill love them! I caught about 20 of them and could have caught more if I had more larva. That was a lot of fun and it was satisfying to have those fish eat all those larva, but now I have no more zucchini.

I would simply get some insecticide to kill off your zucchini eaters and use night crawlers as bait! That way you have have both your zucchini and Bluegill.

I try to go pesticide free with my vegetables but it's not working out too well. But on the plus side, it got me out fishing for bluegills for the first time in years and it was a lot of fun. I think I'm going to get some of the worms out of my compost bin and go out again.

Be careful. You may find that you start doing so much fishing that your gardening may suffer.

There are plenty of natural remedies for that. Use diatomaceous earth on your plants before the insects first arrive. Like routinely from when they are healthy young plants. You can get a bag and a duster tool on Amazon. It's basically ground up fossils that are extremely sharp on a microscopic scale. The soft bodied insects crawl over them and cut themselves all up and die.

Lady bugs will eat most soft bodied larvae. And there are parasitic wasps that you can get that sound terrifying but are actually beneficial.
