Dobyns Fury Series
Dobyns Colt Series
Lews Carbon Fire Speed Stick
Shimano SLX Rod
St. Croix Bass X Rod

I am wanting to get a new rod. No real reason other than I want one haha. I am not trying to spend lots of money. Of the rods listed above, what are your quick thoughts and which one would you choose?

Fury all day. no that much more that Colt and shimano SLX is a good rod but it is too big and bulky. Not impressed with Lews fire stick. Just my 2 cents

At the price point you’re referencing, hard to beat a Fury 703 or 733 for moving baits

If its going to be your primary rod for plastics/jigs etc. would recommend investing in a higher level Dobyns series that fits your budget. I have rods in the Fury, Sierra, Kaden, Champion XP, Champion Extreme HP and Xtasy series. You really see the decreased weight/increased sensitivity enhancement at the Champion XP level and above.

If you want to keep spending to a minimum for a slow presentation rod, would say the Sierra 734 is a great all round choice. The new Kaden series might also fit your needs. I’ve got a Kaden 713 I really like for topwaters. Haven’t used them but the model 744 or 745 sounds like it might work well.

I would strongly recommend the 704 or 734 for soft plastics(Dobyns “4” weight).

I'm a Falcon Cara/Expert fan however when I was Guiding I had 3 or 4 Fury rods with Lews Mach 2 reels that I kept as extra rods. All I can say that's got to be the best value combo there is.
Fury Rods are awesome and have replaced the ole BuCoo as the best value out there.

Just my
2cents

For the exact same money and also available at academy. The Falcon Lowrider All Around Fast for $129.99 is the best rod available for the money. Perfect jig/to rig rod. The color is dumb but still the best option.
