Birds have all migrated north. They can't see bait in mud.

Look in twin coves, allot of bait in there. The fish are moving fast.
The fish we caught were on the bottom like glue.

prosise is correct. All fish are stuck to the bottom. That's where I found them today.

Going to maybe get a couple of hours this evening to fish from the pontoon. (depending on wind) Need Prosise to delay his surgery so I can tie off on the back of his boat. Will report back on what we find.

I found a few last night out off Meadomere but most were 6". I caught a couple by the island that were of legal length. 1oz slab and a few off the MAL lure.
I may go Saturday morning if the rain holds off.

Sorry for late update from Saturday evening. Got in 2 hours right before sunset. Fished deep end of Murrell point, mouth of Twin Coves and took a quick look (didn't fish) around the island. No gulls at all but did see a couple of egrets sitting on the bank. No fish. Bounced slabs off bottom and reeled up through water column. Only a few boats out fishing and I didn't see anyone catch anything. Water stained but not bad. Very high. Didn't see any bait/shad. Lake just seemed "off" to me.

This is a week old, but it might help some. The only bait I saw on the graph, was in twin coves. Now you can find bait all over the lake, but what i am referring to is the large shad balls. From the ramp, over to the marina. I bet they were using the marina as cover. The marina added a new section, which sticks out even with the end of the ramp. The end of the marina, had fish busting shad on the surface. Out on main lake, we saw some fish but not the big shad balls. I witnessed bass crushing shad up on the rocks in 1ft or less. I worked the shallows with a spinnerbait, and caught a nice spot. The left point (west side) going into twin covers is right of the drop to deep water, if you check this point go real close. You want to get about 15 yardss off the point and ease out and around (west) into main lake. I think the target depth should be in the 25-30 ft range. The majority of the bait are staying in the cover, and i think the larger schools are staying In the larger bait balls. Would say they are playing safety by numbers. The east side point at twin coves typically has bank fisherman, but the inner edge is not as close to deep water, like the west side. With the birds gone, you need to start where you launch, and scan spots. If you do not see bait, keep moving. The extremely high water has changed the lake into a shads dream home to hide. I would say the upper end, beach and up. This area has so much cover that fish will disappear for months. The main point for the beach alone, prob has the same amount of cover as the brush from twin coves/meadomere to the dam. (Beach point) This is probably 1 percent of the total area submerged at this time. There is prob a hundred times this amount of submerged brush/ land up to the flat lands below the 377 highway flood plane. When the water goes down, it will push the bait and fish back into lake/denton creek. Until then it will be a skosh harder finding them. But, do not bypass the upper end. I'm telling you there is some great fishing up there for numbers.. not big fish, but good numbers. Will lurk and see what surfaces, we have received 1.8 inches of rain this morning inTrophy Club(10am), so the lake will prob come up another foot at least. Stay shallow for the green fish, and search and pounce on the sandies. Anything you can do to help bring them in needs to be done. Splashers (redneck version = long rod whipping and stirring the water violently). Thumper ( redneck thumper, or wood rod beating the floor of the boat).

Doing good here 5 days in. Rotator cuff torn, slap tear, bicep tendon moved to the front. And the highlight of the week was Saturday night. Took the best #2 ever, pain meds are not kind. Off meds, and sulking.. The rain is nice to see, but makes it easier to be home at this time. Have a good partner in crime relaying info to me, and will prob be my guide in the beginning (hopefully).
