On the water that is? I love it, and wish it was as cool as all the other water sports.

I'm good for about one or two hard pulls a year. Go all out, arm extended, pockets in the water, if I crash in 30 seconds or 3 min, that's all I'm good for.

Last year I took a good one and went over the front and had a headache for about 3 days, probably do the same this summer.

Lot of odd talent on here, figure someone probably has done it competitively.

Yep, but no longer.

Ma and Pa got us involved when we were young. They used to be in the Austin Ski Club. Every New Year's Day, on the waters of Lake Austin for the first run of the year.

I've tried it ONCE. I have a cousin who did it pro, he is now semi retired and lives on Ski Lake in OKC.

I wonder if there's something to skiing on New Years Day. I remember one year when I was a kid, we took the sailboat out on Nocona, New Years Day and watched a guy in jeans and a leather jacket, start off the back of the boat, and just rip it all the way around the lake. When he was done, he pulled himself back in and somehow got back onto the swim platform without falling. One of the coolest things I'd ever seen.

Used to all over the OK lakes. We did for 15 years. Used to have ski boats first as we entered the โ€œlake personโ€ thing. My dad used to pull us around as a young teenager until higher 20โ€™s. It was so fun. I could ski 20 miles without stopping. Found a way to rest pulling double handled rope around my back and just laying back and resting. I ran 5mi a day back then, too. Then we became lazy fishermen.

Clean, smooth water.

Never competitive, but I used to be really good. I'd hold the rope with one hand and could lay out almost horizontal to the water. That was nearly 20 years and 30 pounds ago. I tried last year in Jamaica and ended up with about 3 rides of less than 10 seconds, and a gallon and a half of salt water up my nose.

Used to before I got old and fat. Now most boats would drown me or just yank my arms off.

Not any more but would love to see how much time I spent at the end of the rope. LOL Learned to slalom when I was 7 and kept at it until my late 20s. Learned to ski behind a Tri-sonic. It a had a steep left wake and flat right...I could cut hard to the left, not so much back to the right. We lived at our cabin on Travis during the summers and Mom would pull me around for 2-3 hours every day after her "soaps" were over. LOL Folks got a Cobalt after the Tri-Sonic and it just had a fat wake that was not fun to slalom behind. Got into trick skiing and hydro-slides at that point. Oldest brother got a good job and bought an American Skier and we were back to the slalom, year around. We got dry suits and would ski in the mornings down at Lake Dunlap before work/class. We were in heaven with that flat ripple behind that boat.

Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading

Only ever water skied behind bass boats. I could get up on two and kick one off. But I haven't tried in about 15 years.
