I have been with a guide a couple of times on Texoma. This guy trolled with soft plastic shad imitation. I didn't pay a lot of attention because we were catching fish so fast. We did NOT use downriggers Does anybody want to help me with the details? Lure size, weight, color? How many feet were we pulling off of that reel? Speed? Depth? Thanks, POP

Trolling for stripers. Use Alabama umbrella rigs with 4" chartreuse swim baits have good results for us. Speed 2.5 to 2.8 mph best. Approx 100 yards of line out. Generally fish in 25 to 40 foot of water. Fish ledges and edges. Humps and bumps. Stay away from timber, good quality rig as described is $20-$30.

Thanks floydster, I did not consider using an Alabama rig, due to the risk reward of such an investment. POP

I use jet divers to get the baits down to the level of the fish along with line counter reels so I can tell pretty accurately how much line I have out. You use the depth finder to see see the depth the fish are at and then a table to tell how much line to let out with which jet diver to put the bait at approximately that depth.
I like Pet Spoons and soft plastic shad imitations
