I’ve always just called these Warmouths (the fish with yellow tips on the fins) but I don’t think that’s right. Yesterday at Nocona they were biting great, and some really pretty Longears!

Thanks, one of my buddies also thought a green or some variation. It’s wild how many little variants there are. The tank is 250 gal, doesn’t require a ton of work but it’s a labor of love to keep it clean and clear.

This is a great video on how to identify almost any sunfish you could come across! Long watch but I keep a link handy for any time I want to ID a sunfish I'm unsure about.

Looking good Brian! Rio update? Thanks, when we had the bad winter storm, all my tanks crashed, this tank froze nearly solid. I lost quite a few fish, only 2 of the Rio's made it, but they seem to be doing well. They've got very different personalities, one is a big hog, the other is timid and hides alot so it hasn't grown at the same pace, so it's still hanging out with some other smaller bluegill in 65. At some point this summer, I think I'm going to try to make a big sump that I can run this tank, and two 40's that are setup for a sump. My thought is the more water I have moving, the slower it'll react to ambient temp changes. I'd originally got the 40's so one could be a sump, but they're too wide and wont fit under the 250.
