So I've been asked to repair this transom gate on a local boat. Not a total rebuild. Here's the good side.

And here's what it looks like with the bad stuff scraped out. I've had it under a heat lamp drying it out for 8 hours so far.. Bunch a little weevils. They dead.

My plan is to fill with epoxy and then repair with some old barnwood oak. I think it's white oak. Not sure. Off of a 100 year old barn from SA area. Original rubber coping will go over the repair so all work is hidden. Open to suggestions. Thoughts?

So after a bunch of thought, cutting and sanding we begin. Treated pine and titebond 3. First glue up after hours of removing old wood, caulk and whatever else they had holding this together. Decided to go with a layered approach. The white spots are where I've glued in toothpicks. That's where the hinge screws go.

Almost done with my part of it. Some sanding to do. Someone else will apply the 5200 and install the coping. And yes. It was a clean table when I started lol. Next is a reclaimed cedar rolling outdoor cart that I'm building for a buddy of mine in East Texas. Still have glider swing and the camper in the wings.
