I have a Springfield Saint AR15 pistol that I would like to trade. It has a 7.5" barrel and I need at least a 11.5" barrel for my suppressor I want to install.

I've never sold or traded a gun. Anyone have any experience with this? Where to go, and who to talk to? What is the best way to ensure you are getting a good trade?

Alternatively, can you get an extension for the barrel to make it work with that suppressor? Or swap out the barrel on the gun? At this point I am looking at all options. I like the gun a lot and sort of hate to get rid of it. But getting a suppressor is the priority.

Why won't the 7.5" barrel work?

I'd think as long as you kept the pistol brace on it, you wouldn't have any barrel length problems, unless the suppressor mfg wont warranty it or something on barrel lengths shorter than X. I'm not a suppressor guy so I don't know much there.

I wouldn't trade it, talk to the shop that's selling the suppressor and see what they recommend if you really want a longer barrel.

Some suppressor manufacturers have minimal barrel length recommendations.

The suppressor specs require a minimum barrel length for each caliber. For .223/.556 it is 11.50". Every caliber potentially has a different minimum length requirement based on the pressures. Apparently there is also a lot of unburn powder coming out of a short barrel and that plays a factor in the suppressor.

you can order and change the barrel out easy enough.

how long is the suppressor? assuming you are trying to pin it for a legal length rifle.

if you want to keep the current set up you can also just buy a new upper with the barrel length you want, even easier than swapping barrels. just trade uppers when you want a particular set up.

Suppressor is 7". I want the overall shortest length possible. Not really concerned with the designation of pistol vs rifle. I am fine with the functionality of the arm brace as opposed to a shoulder stock, and I definitely don't want to mess with the paperwork for a SBR.

does suppressor co. recommend the 11.5" or is it just preference?

It is the minimum requirement from the mfg.

I would recommend just getting this upper, simple swap out for non suppressed 7.5" or you have the suppressed to go to. best of both worlds imo.

I have been really happy with all my ar stoner uppers/barrels or you can go to the palmetto site or any other and look for full uppers.

if you pin the suppressor to the 11.5" you can also add a normal stock and be legal. HAS TO BE PINNED OR WELDED but I would not weld one on.

just looked at specs again, what caliber is your suppressor? the 11.5" shows for a 5.56 while the 300 bo can be an 8" and 308 needs a 14.5".

You’re talking about an assault rifle pistol, right?
