If you can hike them, this is the time of year big cutties cruise the lakes - Goose, Middle Fork, etc.

Well been up here two days now and the fishing is terrible. The river is real murky. I’ve tried nymphs of all colors and salmon eggs red,green and orange it’s a no go. We went to the fish hatchery water jerky there to. We drove towards Cimmeron and that river water is murky to. Lots of run off water is moving fast. Going to give the lakes a try now.

Back from Red River NM. The trout are on fire. Me and the Wife caught plenty just about every day we fished. No big ones but it was fun on the catch and release. There was a Memorial Day Biker rally fri,sat,sun. Everyone seemed to behave except for one person at a bar Saturday afternoon in Questa where he was firing a gun off. The NM State police and the Taos Co. Sheriffs Office placed him in custody quickly before anyone was hurt. Seems to always be one in the crowd that cant behave.

That was my first thought when I read your post. It's been many years, but I found fish across the road from that quarry or whatever it is. The water was not clear, but the fish were there!
