I currently have a Simrad GO7 that came on the boat. I added the 3in1 active imaging transducer, but I'm wanting to go to a bigger screen. My trolling motor is a MK Terrova i-Polit Link that doesn't communicate with my Simrad. Looking for advise between the Lowrance and Humminbird 12" units. Came across a pretty good deal on a new Carbon 12. How many people are really utilizing the communication between the MK and Humminbird and is it worth it. I bought the MK due to issues I had read with Motorguide and what was available at the time as well.
Any help would be appreciated.
TIA

Spot Lock is the most important feature and it will work no matter the brand of unit. I had Carbon and it was awesome device.

Curious that you would pay the extra hundreds of dollars for i-pilot link over the regular i-Pilot without being able to use it. Did you find a good deal on a used one? If you already have a Link model, it would be hard to convince me not to get a Humminbird.
I use to have a Go7 installed with an i-Pilot. I really like both products. I now have a helix and a Terrova w/ i-Pilot, but I still don’t have the Link. Most important feature to me is spotlock. It would be nice to move cursor on helix and select a spot to “go to” without manually moving there. Would also be nice to “follow the contour” feature. At the end of the day, it wasn’t worth the extra cost to me. You’ve already incurred that cost, why not take advantage of it?

Got a good deal on the Link and at the time was one of the few I could even find, non-link or link. Going with Humminbird to get full functionality. Now just have to actually find one in stock somewhere!
