Snow, Traffic Jams, and Electric Cars.

Can we show a little forethought and practicality? Please?

If all cars were electric ... and were caught up in a three hour traffic jam... dead batteries! Then what?

Not to mention, that there is virtually no heating in an electric vehicle.

And if you get stuck on the road all night, no battery, no heating, no windshield wipers, no radio, no GPS (all these drain the battery) !!!

You can try calling 911 to bring women and children to safety!

But they cannot come to help you since all roads are blocked and the socialist green weenies will probably require all police cars to be electric also (if we still have police departments then) !!!

And when the roads become unblocked no one can move! Their batteries are dead and they cannot move.

How do you charge the thousands of cars in the traffic jam? (That is a business I think I’d like to look into. Drones to deliver heavy batteries and someone to remove and install.)

Same problem during summer vacation departures with miles of traffic jams.

There is virtually NO air conditioning in an electric vehicle. It would drain your battery quickly.

This will make cars run out of "fuel" and create never ending traffic jams, not to mention high tempers.

No socialist bent reporter talks about this of course!

You can’t even call in horses to rescue you. The Socialists are against horses and cows who defecate.

Wouldn’t it be easier to just get rid of the socialist politicians who are trying to help China’s economy?

They are so efficient you could just plug your cell phone into them and make them go at least 30 miles to the nearest charger.

The goal of this is not efficiency...it is increased government control of your freedom of movement.

I'd love being able to drive an electric truck, cyber, etc. But I live in an apartment and couldn't charge it. Batteries are getting better every day.

Batteries, much better batteries are not, repeat, NOT the answer.

The source of the electricity is what the answer will be. And that answer will NOT be anything related to batteries. The answer will be and is hydrogen fueled fuel cells.

Sitting still in a traffic jam uses very little energy, like in a gasser.
Consider your gasser sitting with your ignition on for hours. Thats the same thing an EV does while it sits only the battery on the EV is 20 times larger than the gasser, oh my!

How far are you from a fuel station in either? One you need a gas station, the other you need 120v AC. Which is closer and which is more accessible?

Bottom line, don't be a Kramer on an EV.



It is right that an EV uses more energy to heat than a gasser but they have heaters. They use a resistance heater while a gasser uses heat generated by the engine through the heated water.

EV's are fine as long as long as they're competing in the free market. Let the gooberment get involved and they'll have things more screwed up than a first grade fire drill.

I have been known to spend 3 weeks in the high county hunting elk and mulies without going to town. Gonna be really hard to charge one of those things from elk camp. I'll pass and stick with my diesel truck and 6 jerry cans full of fuel.

Popular Science, Popular Mechanics, and similar publications come out with "magic battery" articles every month. There's always some miraculous new game-changing battery that's only 2 years away. Just 2 years! Wait and see!
