I would have assumed they were already paying more than that. Doesn't seem that high for one of the biggest banks in the country.

It is high for a bank teller.

Yep. I know about 7 years ago one of the students I worked with started at Chase as a teller and was making $10/hr.

Since they only have two tellers in all their branches now(if that many) it won’t make much difference to their payroll.

Yes tellers are historically low paid positions one of my wife’s first jobs was a teller very low salary.

Show up with face tats, nose rings and pink hair and see if you get hired. Good paying jobs are there if you look the part.

A lot of noise in an announcement like this. Main thing to keep in mind is that this US BASED employees.

Customer service reps, CS managers, and thousands and thousands of other back office and support roles are done in the Philippines for $5-6 an hour. And frankly done very well. Any of those roles remaining in the US will go off shore to the point the vast majority of US based folks will be salaried anyways so this "per-hour" stuff is mostly fluff. Will apply to few people actually.

Its like when the new CEO of Citibank announced NO MORE ZOOM meetings on Fridays. Not allowed. People are getting burned out and need to care for their mental health. Well the small print is that this did not apply to anyone in operations. So basically this is for executives and the investment side of the bank and no one followed this rule anyone. Your boss would not allow that. Best keep your mouth shut about it too.

But it sounded good. Like they really cared about the people. They do not. They are just numbers and this is nothing more than calculated PR BS that will actually save them money in the long run. I was at Citibank for 20 years and left as an SVP so I know of what I speak...they are not out for anyone but the share holders and no one is valued as a person. People are very dispensable, matter of fact if your not actively looking for ways to dispense of them or hire them cheaper you are not doing your job.

**Yes my NDA period is expired, so I can speak freely. I could fill a book with the shenanigan's I have seen. So yeah...$25 an hour, sure.

There will be one teller in the branch and you will be battling in line at the atm.

That's $52K for a full time spot. Hope those employees will be happy with their new tax bracket.
