A few years ago I just started something that works for me in these cases. If someone pulls right up in front of me I just keep fishing as if they were not there. I keep on my same route. Have had a couple get "offended" that our boats got close or that I cast near their boat. Their problem, not mine.

One spring about 15 years ago I was in Duck Call Cove on Fork (I think that is the name, it is the first cove going into Birch). It was spring time and there were maybe 20 boats in that small cove. I was in the back (by myself) and made a cast with a spinnerbait to the left of a small bush and bam got about a 6 pounder. Got her unhooked and cast to the right hand side of the same bush and bam a four pounder hit. He got a little tied up in some branches next to the boat. I was reaching down when I felt my motor bump something. Not uncommon on Fork. Then I heard the sound of someone casting and looked up to see line going over my head.
The bump I felt was someone's bow of their boat hitting my motor. I stood up and said something like "your kidding me, over my head". He said something like he can fish where he wants, it's public water. I just repeated "over my head?" I'm sure there were no more fish there I pointed my boat toward the opening of the cove, I raised my motor up (a lot) and goosed it in forward soaking his sorry a##. Glad it was not recent years or he might have shot at me. I could not hear what he was saying but I'm sure it was not nice.

100 yards is pretty good. As lakes get more crowded you'll run into worse. Would not upset me, and I would never had made a post about it either.
Thing is he does not know if your going to continue or milk the spot your on. What I have found is someone will sit on a spot or move slow, until you try to go around them.

I fish Fork all the time.....I've seen it all! There's people that don't have a clue, and there's people that just don't give a $hit. Trust me, there's days my wife is talking me down to keep my cool, cause I will call you out on it. I will say this, about 90% of the time, most people are courteous. But there's always that other 10%! lol.

This mite sound like bullcrap but it is not. Few years ago me and my brother were fishing the point going into Dale on the left side. My brother caught one little over 8 lbs. Here comes a guy rite at us , pulls up and goes to casting rite where brother caught it. I say hey you getting little close there buddy. He flat out ask us if we would move so they could fish that spot cause they were in a tournament. I say sure can rite after we leave it. Bout 3 more cast to us my brother stood up and suggested they leave. When we left we spun it up pretty good for them. Another reason why i dont fish on the weekends anymore

What goes out comes back double, have seen it but most of the time it is a honest mistake. When it's not a honest mistake, is when it's better to shoot straight.. Need to send the written code to the wakeboats.. Few weeks ago I pulled up to a point, saw a wakeboat coming from the right. He slows down and was courteous to me. Then the village idiot drives right in front of me. I honestly think he had no idea what he was doing. All the women in the back of the boat had their heads down.. I really don't like sundays because of this, but it will get much worse when school lets out. I have more problems with the village idiots vs people who would cut in on me. I personally ish spots, not banks.

Small bass tracker I think why? damn....my people dont usually get down like that. Must be one of these new guys who got into aluminum cuz all the pros are using them now, cuz this is definitely fiberglass boat behavior and yea, he for sure cut you off. Dick move...especially if you were headed in the direction he went to. A few years ago I just started something that works for me in these cases. If someone pulls right up in front of me I just keep fishing as if they were not there. I keep on my same route. Have had a couple get "offended" that our boats got close or that I cast near their boat. Their problem, not mine. and dont say a word. I have had to do this once. They didnt get offended luckily....they fully understood why I was doing it in my opinion. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt...i think some guys just get tunnel vision out there and might not see it like them cutting anyone off or being rude. LATE EDIT: This 100% It's a golden rule thing for me. It's just a bass.

The worst thing is to be fishing out from the bank but towards the bank and have a pontoon with 8 people on it travel the speed of smell between you and the bank over your spot and looking at you to see if you’re going to catch one where you can’t cast

Ive caught too many fish after a boat passes to dislike those situations any more! LOL

100 yds is a reasonable distance to come in, assuming he didn’t begin fishing towards you. Most tournaments and some clubs use a 50 yard rule

lbock, several generalities I try to abide by... -never pretend you don't see another boat fishing in an area, for example, between docks, just ask if it's ok that you fish a couple of docks ahead of them, OR skip 3 docks and fish away -when off shore, never come in on another boat, find your own spot -pay attention to direction of a boat already fishing and head the opposite direction OR fish behind them. I did this at Winnsboro last weekend and caught two keepers right behind another guy -if it's gonna take you a while to get ready to launch for any reason, tell the folks behind you to go ahead. Better yet, be 100% ready when it's your turn. But, remember, last minute issues happen and we were all new once. -turn your headlights off at the ramp -when running or idling, in or out of boat lanes, keep your head on a swivel. For your and everyone else's safety. -don't give your opinion about boats, trucks, motors, electronics while on the water, if not asked! -the lake belongs to everyone including the stupid jet skis and wake boats -if someone is obviously having issues, broke down, trouble loading, offer help but accept no thanks -always encourage kids to fish and don't be insulted by those who want to make you sound like a molester! -DO NOT be shy to ask for help. MOST are eager to help you load, give their advice, etc. Most of us love to teach/coach. -apply the Golden Rule in all things, but especially while fishing. Nothing is worth getting shot! As Patrick Swayze said, BE NICE! You will meet some jackwagons who are dying to fight.

It’s very frustrating for sure, especially when they come in closer than 100 yards. Great teaching moment in high school tournaments though, just light guys with headlights on at the ramp.
