I was just kind of curious about this Let's say you have a dock and the water is not very deep, is there a way to have someone come in and excavate your dock area to give you deeper fishing water?

Good question, I’ve seen people do that on the lake that I live on.
Unfortunately within a couple of years it will fill back in with silt.
Lakes are very hard to change whether it is fish management or land manipulation.
Retaining walls are a good example, most will fail over time from wave action and beach erosion.

I have a friend who has 2 large dock mounted de icers that are aimed at a angle towards the bottom . He runs them once a month on a timer for several hrs at a time . He has gone from 3 ft of water under the dock to over 12 ft over 2 years of time . Not sure about the legal side but its not like he's being insane about stirring up the sediment .

There’s a very popular cove on Ft. Gibson lake that had a small barge with a big backhoe on it. There’s a very narrow entry to the cove and they would use the backhoe to dredge it out deep enough for boats to come through it. Did it for years, but during a massive flood it flipped the barge upside down and they can’t figure out how to flip it back over lol.

Guess also depends on how deep the pylons of the dock are.

The guy who did my friends canal at Cedar Creek happened to own the empty lots at the back of the canal. He had three lots side by side and had a 20ft tall mound of silt across all three. He then had to truck it out of the subdivision. If the guy was not digging out in front of his own lots at the time he dug my friends and their neighbors it would have been an astronomical price.
A five spot for a shot and a beer? And you wonder how we wound up here.

Probably depends on what lake.
Is it a CoE lake?
Private lake or public?
What river(s) or creek(s) feed it.

The best way is to put some giant air bags on the bottom of the lake. Fill with air, and raise the water level up to what you need.

there are companies that will dredge. just have to search for a local one. they know what permits are needed and where to dump the bottom dirt they remove. usually, people reclaim their property line at the lake side by back filling with the dredged material.

It is usually against the state and lake authority rules to dig below the elevation of the bottom of the lake.
Check with them before digging.
Lots of property owner on Hubbard Creek got fines for digging out around there docks when the lake was really low.
Makes no sense but most regulations don’t anyway.

I know of a fellow that started dredging at his waterfront on Lake Palestine, The UNRMWA showed up and told him he had to stop, a permit would
be required , and they were not issuing any permits at that time. He stopped ( he was pretty much done) and apologized.
So the old adage " it is easier to get forgiveness than permission " applied in this case.

Thanks for the answers, while I do not have and are unlikely to ever have a dock, I was just curious to know if it is possible to make the area around one's dock
deeper or not.

We've done some dredging at several of our places on Nocona. Folks out here use big excavators so access by land has to be somewhat flat. If you've got access to the water by land, I'd make some calls to several local dirtwork guys and see what they'd have to do. It might be as easy as paying whatever their hr/rate is and figuring out what to do with the mud.
