Hey everyone. Just doing some market research.
Our company has patented concussion detection technology we are employing in other markets. Mainly Military for now.
I am looking at areas to expand this technology in to and football helmets is obviously the next big market.
Just curious what you parent would pay for a helmet that could detect a concussive hit?
Looking at possibly offering this in two forms. The first would be a post game downloadable system where you could review the entire game and any concussive impacts would be flagged. The second is much more costly, but would notify the team coach/doctor immediately in real-time of a concussive impact.
Youth helmets range in price from $100 - $400 generally. How much more (%) would you be willing to spend to have this technology in your child's helmet? Trying to determine if we can get the price point to what the market will pay.
Thanks for your help!

Not to make light of what you're trying to do, but why don't they just put these on helmets? ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2021/05/full-39746-96313-shockwatch.jpg)

One of the 1st things that I think of is a subscription type service may be better than buying a helmet. Many players, if not all, will change helmet style/size each season/yr. So to spend 100 - 300 every year on one piece of equipment may become a bit costly for some. If you could pay into a subscription of some sort that allowed a upgrade each year, might make the price point more appealing to some parents.

Also have to think that kids take their helmets off and throw'em up into the air, or swing'em around by the facemask hitting things. Could give false readings.

Concussions are going to happen and they cannot be prevented. The only way to prevent a concussion in football is not to play football. Hate to sound brash but tats the only study that shows not playing is the only preventive measure of a concussion. Our trainers do baseline test of every kid and every time there’s a question the kid goes into concussion protocol until that test is passed again.

I don't know how to feel about this. It would just be an indicator that the player needs to go through the protocol and it's usually pretty easy to tell when they need to, based on my experience.
With that said, I'm all for better helmets. We went back to a Speed Flex after the the chin strap came unsnapped on my son's 'school helmet'. He lost his helmet during a fall and it ended his play for the next two games. The custom fit and ratcheting straps that Riddell offers are excellent, imo. So yep, I'll pay $400 bucks or more for a quality helmet if I think it makes a difference.

I just hope my son never wants to play. With all my head problems and my nephew's concussions issues, I fear what could happen.

I just hope my son never wants to play. With all my head problems and my nephew's concussions issues, I fear what could happen. The game is taught much differently these days. And the game has changed in ways to eject players that use their helmet as a point of contact. Not to mention, the equipment gets better every few years as better products develop and hit the market.
