Plano PD posted the below response to social media about an hour ago.




On May 2, 2021, a Plano police officer was dispatched to a reported Traffic Hazard call where the caller stated there was a malfunction in the traffic signal light at the intersection of Preston Road and SH121. Due to a heavy call volume, only one officer was available to respond to the scene. It was later determined that there was no signal malfunction but rather approximately 50 protestors in and around the roadway. The officer immediately called for backup officers to respond as soon as possible.

During this incident, a female reported that she was assaulted by a male who confronted the protestors. Due to the position of the crowd, the officer did not witness the assault. The officer de-escalated the situation by removing the male away from the crowd. The officer completed an offense report which was followed up by our Crimes Against Persons Unit the next day. The victim told detectives that the male attempted to knock her phone from her hand but failed to do so, but he did slap her hand. The woman said she was not injured by the slap and it did not hurt, but she did feel threatened by the male’s actions. After speaking with the victim and the suspect, and reviewing video footage of the incident, detectives filed an Assault-by-Contact charge with the Municipal Court against the male suspect.

It has also been reported over social media platforms that a protestor pointed a firearm at the male subject that confronted the crowd. These reports are false. A protestor pointed an electronic control device at the male subject in an effort to protect the female from being further assaulted by the male. Officers on scene confirmed that the device was not a firearm. Electronic control devices can be purchased without a permit or license and the person who pointed the device did not commit a criminal offense by doing so. We have included a photo of the person holding the device.

There were no injuries or property damaged during this incident and no one pointed a firearm at anyone. The officers’ priorities at the time were to de-escalate the situation and clear the roadway. The roadway was clear and traffic was moving in approximately seven minutes after the first officer arrived. It is regrettable that so many people have falsely reported on this incident over social media.

The big guy was not in the wrong , he just reacted and said what 90% of the area wanted to.

We are looking to downsize and one of the many reasons I would never consider living in Plano.

This whole event of law breaker BLM thugs is gaining national and upper statewide attention. And no, it was not a Tazer that was pointed at a man, it was a firearm. All the n'er do well lawbreakers, blocking and impeding traffic on a state thoroughfare, no charges according to the racist Plano police chief. The only charge is the victim who knocked a cell phone out of his face. The inside story of the hatred of this police chief from his troops about discriminatory and racist prejudice acts within the force is coming out. The moral of this story is "If you do not want to sit in your car for hours and hours because some disrepectful BLM jerks block the roadway, stay the f out of Plano." Pitiful that Law Enforcement leadership is caving to the illegal acts of some groups. Cowards.
