I have nearly hit deer swimming in 2 different lakes....Amistad and Lake Austin. Both were at dusk/low light times and caught them out of the corner of my eye as i zipped by them. Wasn't concerned about the one on Lake Austin as it is a narrow lake/river but the one on Amistad was out in the middle at a very wide area of the lake. We circled back around for that one and idled next to it to keep it pointed towards the nearest shoreline as it was panicked and not swimming in any particular direction. They really can motor along pretty well paddling with those skinny legs!
