If you have it set up right expect to brush the walls once or twice a week, clean the strainer baskets every few days and add chlorine/acid as needed. Backwash if it’s a DE filter once a week in the summer, less in the winter. A few other annual/semi annual tasks. Really not that bad and provides a lot of entertainment especially if you have kids or host a lot of get togethers.

BCBassCat got me on that one. Stupid me thought he only used the pic to do a comedy bit with the dog.

By the looks of the way you maintain the deck, a pool would be WAY over your head.

I'm glad there are wine drinkers in this world ..... it saves more beer for the rest of us.

maintaining it is not as hard as I was lead to believe.

One of the negatives to salt is if you backwash on to yard it will kill everything.

That's not very nice. I built that deck, I've never built anything of that nature. Used all treated lumber, per my brothers direction as he is carpenter and built one like it but around his above ground pool , and it was yuge . One thing about it was, he's in East Texas on 16 acres and has lots of trees and shade. My place is in a developed sub division in north Texas and there is no shade, so the sun and wind sucked the moister out of it promptly. Within about a year I knew that was a bad idea, the warping had already started. Heck I even used 2.5'' deck screws on everything. The deck has been there since we built the place in 2017 and if we do in fact have a pool installed I might just rip that one out and have a real builder build one.

I think I did a pretty good job maintaining this pool for 12 years back home in the Sip. Even drained and 2 part painted it. That paints expensive too.

I think you have enough room for two pools.

Dig the hole, then scratch the pool plans, add some rock and brush piles, throw in some bass and bluegills.

If you train the dog right, he'll poop in the pool like a proper pooper. Seriously, our salt pool is about 30 years old. The stain is from rebar and a replaster is due this year. I took the cover off last weekend and still brushing and vacuuming the bottom to clean it up a bit.

Go salt or get to use to having irritated eyes and skin. 2cents

Great thread. Lots of very creative ideas here.

I've got a pool but I've got nothing that funny to add. Only a serious, useful comment - spend the extra money and go pebble tech.

Great for kids, friends and family and a wife who likes to read.

I used to go in it regularly after work and use it a pre-wash when I was outside working everyday. I get in it about a dozen times a year now. It seems now I only use it to entertain.

Join the local country club and save money and time. Had a pool once and never ever never again. Spent more time keeping the thing in chemical balance that I did in it and it cost $$$$ to do so.
