Why would anyone want to own one? Why own an animal that has been known turn on someone and kill them. When I was a kid we had show rabbits. One morning I watched two pit bulls chew through the wire cage and kill them. I would say that’s an aggressive dog to chew through wire to get to breakfast. We owned a lab for 15 years and never saw it chew through wire. As good pet owners we never let it bite anyone, not so say it never tried. Never worried about it killing anyone....

A loose Pit boke down my parents fence and killed their Bassett Hound. It ripped its throat straight out. The most gruesome thing I have ever seen. I shot it in the face twice and deposited the remains on the owners doorstep. Never felt guilty once.

A scorpion, being a very poor swimmer, asked a turtle to carry him on his back across a river. “Are you Scorpion mad?” exclaimed the turtle. “You’ll sting me while I’m swimming and I’ll drown.” “My dear turtle,” laughed the scorpion, “if I were to sting you, you would drown and I would go down with you. Now, where is the logic in that?” “You’re right!” cried the turtle. “Hop on!” The scorpion climbed aboard and halfway across the river gave the turtle a mighty sting. As they both sank to the bottom, the turtle resignedly said: “Do you mind if I ask you something? You said there’d be no logic in your stinging me. Why did you do it?” “It has nothing to do with logic,” the drowning scorpion sadly replied. “It’s just my character.”

About 25 years ago I worked a claim on a rural property near south Fort Worth in which the owner had three pit bulls. He tells me before I get there to pull up to the gate and honk, but what ever I do don’t get out before he gets there. I arrive, honk and here comes the three dogs and shortly after the owner. I roll the window down and tell him that he will need to lock the dogs up before I come on the property. He says don’t worry as long as I am near they won’t bother you. Stupid me agrees and we drive onto the property. When we get up to the house he says open the door and let them smell you and then get out. Again, stupid me agrees. We start inspecting the property and the dogs are eyeballing me the entire time, but never showed any agresssion. About two weeks later, I am watching the news and there is a story in which the same three dogs attacked and killed a woman that was walking down the road. I have thought many days since that that could have been me. Over the years I have had numerous run ins with Pit Bulls and needless to say I don’t trust any of them.

A supposedly “family” pit the owner had since birth attacked my daughter’s ankle (unprovoked) and she had to have stitches.
We later learned from City of Plano that this was the 4th such attack by that dog. He’s a dead SOB now.

She is now very afraid of pits. They are bad dogs. If your pit isn’t bad, it will be. Period.

They are great dogs until they eat one of your kids.

I haven’t been around many pure pits, but the ones I have been had either been raised properly and were great pets and good looking dogs, the others were mistreated and were pretty scary. I think it’s about the owner like Bob Said.

We owned a mix breed pit/lab and Bud was a great dog. An old man once told me we should get rid of Bud, that he’d turn on us eventually. Bud was around both our girls for most their childhoods and never had a problem, except he liked to bring possums, birds, and the occasional raccoon on the back porch to show us his hunting prowess.

RIP Bud

I do not trust hem, they remind me of a Mike Tyson on drugs. I will never ever let my grand children around one, ever.

I don't want to own one, but I respect the freedom to do so. Owners of every breed should be responsible for their pets actions.
