The carp and buffalo fishing has been on fire. I caught well over 100 pounds of carp and buffalo today on range cubes. Most of the fish were released without issue, however, one poor buffalo was hooked in a gill and bleed to death. Soooooo I ate it. roflmao

Most people do not realize that buffalo were the number one commercial fish in many areas of the United States in the early 1900s. Unlike carp, the meat is white, mild, and very tasty. The only problem is all of the free floating bones found in most parts of the fish. Only the meat over the ribs is fully free of bones.

Here is a sample of what I was catching.

If it’s gunna die, put it to good use. I’d rather see it eaten than floating. And that looks delicious.

Thanks for the reply. If you look closely at the broken piece, it was really white and fluffy. roflmao

My Grandfather commercial fished Lake Texoma in the 50's and 60's. I helped him one summer in the mid 60's. He received 10 cents per lb ( gutted)
delivered to the fish house in Lebanon Ok. He would run 6-7 trammel nets , 100 yards long. The rules stated the nets must be removed by
dark on Friday, could be re-set at daylight Monday. I observed very little by catch , but the nets were death to turtles.

Looks delicious, Barry! Buffalo are great fried, tasted a lot like KFC dark meat whenever I cooked it. I don't mind the bones at all personally, if you cut the meat in a way that they bones stay whole you can pick them out incredibly easily. Good to see somebody else making a nice meal out of buffalo, I was starting to think I was crazy for hoping I could put another on the table roflmao
