Anyone else soaks thier mono in water periodically? I had a problem with weedeater line drying out and getting brittle, and a friend told me to soak in in water for a few days, it made it like new again, so I tried soaking my mr crappie and vicious mono. It makes even new line more stretchy and behave better
I usually soak a spool for around 3 days. u will notice when u first put the spool in the water it wants to float, but after a few days it sinks. it absorbs some of the moisture. try it!
I also put a piece of tape on my rod indicating what lb test is on the reel. I think it would be good if the line distributors put a few little waterproof stickers in the box with the line that u could stick on your rod after you spool up.
Lately Ive been downsizing my jigs and my line, so knowing which rods have 4 lb test on them helps me decide how to set my drag and reminds me not to try and lift a big crappie in the boat using the rod and line.

I never have tried that. I use line conditioner or reel magic. It really helps. On my spinning reels I’ll pull the line out across the yard with nothing tied on, use a wet rag to hold tension as I reel it in. Gets the twist out.

I will let out a bunch of line and drag it behind the boat at idle speed for a few minutes with nothing attached to the end. That gets the twist out.

Gonna put some on a reel and give it a go next fishing trip. I have never even heard of it before.

I have always been partial to fishing with 20 pound Power Pro Super Slick Braid with an 8 pound Fluorocarbon Leader. I actually am very happy with this set up for me.

I can attest that this works as well. I learned it from a guide decades ago.

There's a reason some people get a LOT of line twist - they're using the "auto-bail" on their spinning reel whereby you turn the handle and after "x" rotations of the spool, the bail will flip closed, but you add line twists doing this. That same guide taught me to flip the bail by hand to reduce the accumulation of line twists. He was correct, two for two.
