I'm posting this for general awareness. After a recent visit to Toledo Bend and hearing rumors of the mass spraying of herbicides to control vegetation growth on the lake, me and some friends did a little research and found the information linked below.

Do your own research, but its evident that Roundup(glyphosate) is highly toxic to biological life, is considered a carcinogen, and one of its original uses was a biocide and a chelant. Its being sprayed on lakes across the state, along with other toxic (EPA approved) herbicides. To little surprise to people who pay attention, our regulatory agencies do not protect the environment, or civilians for that matter from toxic materials; as it takes major class action lawsuits to stop the production and sale of such chemicals long after that manufacturers have known and hidden the dangers. This in part appears to be due to the fact that the manufacturers of such chemicals, conduct their own safety and toxicity studies.

What is the solution? We use many chemicals to produce and achieve things that are not good for the body.

So much mis information about roundup and glyphosate, its hard to read through these on the internet and know what is really happening.

Not saying its good, cause its not. But its been used for decades on farms, and is most likely in your water supply already, which also has other known carcinogenins in it.

TPWD spends over a million dollars a year on aquatic nuisance control measures. More mechanical removal of aquatic weeds would seem to be safer than applying tons of chemicals to our waterways. Biological means of controlling invasive vegetation should also be used in place of potentially damaging chemicals.

They need to be very careful with the "Biological" means of control. The catfish farmers on the Mississippi River imported Silver Carp to control the phytoplankton in their ponds and we all see the problem they have become. Kind of like the Bee breeders trying to create a better honey bee and ended up with the killer bee's.
