In the Major League Fishing Patriot Cup Day 3 grouping on TV, Dustin Connell caught a 2 lbs 6 oz. bass at the very last possible moment (his last cast) of the final period. It moved him along inching him above the cut line. He lives to fish another day in the Cup!

So, did anyone else watch this, see the bass that supposedly weighed 2-6? I may have missed discussion regarding it at some earlier time. But, I don't see any posts about it.

Dustin skied the little bass back to the boat and just before he hooked it to the scales, Dustin said "You better weigh," or words to that effect, hoping the fish was a pound or more to add to his total. The official then announced 2-6 and I was just stunned. For sure, I know viewing perspectives can be way off but I sort of think it might have been 1-6 and the official just misread the scale???

Anyway, no reflection on Connell as it is no fault of his. He's a fine angler.

Curious if anything was said or written about this here or elsewhere.

So this is where we have traveled as a fishing society. Discussing if a fish a pro caught was 1lb or 2lb. I’m going back to my shop to have another beer

Clark, no, not the weight of the bass, per se, but that it advanced him in the tournament to the next round over other anglers. $$$ at stake.

And, second, whether this was an example of an actual weighing mistake. It is the first I have ever seen where an announced weight was so far off what I expected to be announced.

Just surprised not to see anything on it.

So you are discussing the weight of the bass, because the weight of the bass is what advanced him in the tournament.

The logical conclusion to this is that it didn’t weight what they said it weighed and they had an agenda to advance him, i.e, it’s a realit show with pre-determined outcomes.

The scale coulda been off . . . maybe for the day. The official may have "liked" Dustin and just announced that weight. Their are several scenarios. But in the long run none of them matter, at least to me. I do like watching MLF.

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

Yes I watched it and thought the same thing. Probably weighed 1 lb 6 oz at the most. No way it was 2 lb 6 oz. Connell was hoping it was over 1 lb and he should know as those guys can usually guess within 2-3 oz on those small fish.

Agree it did not look like a 2-6 but it was easily over a pound and that's all he needed to move over the cut line

A little off subject but everytime I watch them weigh a fish most timnes they give the weight while the fish is flooping around. What scale are they using and is it acurate while fish bobs and weaves.

I have wondered about the floppy fish on the scales. Must be a special scale.

Tom is right. I saw it also. All that was needed was a 1lb fish to make it. I think the Marshall made a mistake saying 2lb 6 ounces but it was over 1lb so it didn't matter at all.
