So I turned down the New Jersey Job, then I turned down the Los Alamos job and I ended up taking a small refinery redesign job in Cheyenne WY. I went from full spring mode back to winter mode. So here in Wyoming, evidently catching Rainbow Trout is pretty easy ... all you do is rig up a slip bobber, set the depth around 6' deep, stab a earthworm on a small hook, chuck it out in the lake and reel in trout. I had my limit in 30 minutes. The flesh of these trout were dark pink, almost like salmon, but it seems I remember the last time I cleaned rainbow trout (in North Carolina) the meat was white. I did some research which suggest white meat rainbows are usually farm raised and the darker pink meat is wild and due to a natural diet. Well I never did rank rainbows up there at the top for taste but these were absolutely some of the best tasting fish I've ever eaten. These were caught at Granite Lake in Curt Gowdy State Park and they do stock the lake but I guess these were in the lake long enough to purge themselves. It's a beautiful area but the climate is brutal!, not a place I would like to call home.

I guess rainbows must taste way better than browns. I did a job up in Colorado that had a trout stream next to it. I could catch twenty in an hour of fishing and tried cooking those suckers every way I could think of. They were just nasty.

hope you're making sure bait is allowed where you fish, lots of places are no live bait or no barbs or even both.

they do taste better in winter/cold water, try just wrapping one in foil with fresh lemon and a slice of red onion, wrap tight and oven cook it, broiled red taters and some fried brussel sprouts. woot
