Most of the shoreline vegetation appears to be gone. Its trying to come back in some places. There are reeds etc but a lot of the stuffw e normally see out there is gone. Maybe the cold weather got it is my guess.

I don't know but there sure was a whole lot less last year.

I fished out there a ton last year and never had any issues finding any vegetation. A couple of days ago was my first trip out this year there and its just about gone in all the areas I hit and I ran around a bunch on the lake.

I would say the unprecedented freeze unfortunately killed it or some meth cooks accidentally spilled their ether into the lake

No drought perhaps. Water levels didn’t recede far enough out to allow for the “normal” growth were used to. Freeze didn’t help either.

Tawakoni has been full or over full for a good while and was during the freeze if I recall. As a friend pointed out its odd that a small lake like Holbrook still has its vegetation as it froze too.

Pines is in the same situation... went up there last week expecting it to be prime time, noppppeeee.... there is some decent subsurface grass, but the shoreline succkkkss

I think the carp have started to take over Tawakoni. I was there at the end of March and every inch of shorline from north to south seemed to be covered with carp.
And Hawkins on the other hand is tiny in comparison and the vegetation there is out of control. The freeze had no effect on Hawkins.

I know a 10lber was caught Tuesday off a bed that also had a lot of carp thrashing in same area. Really opened my eyes not pass to through spots like that too fast because of the carp.

I was catching them good on a frog about 10 yards out from the carp. The bass were still there, just not shallow enough to see, for me anyways. Of course passing up the areas where the carp were wasnt really an option for me since they were all over the lake that weekend. I beleive that was the weekend of the last full moon.

Either the water stayed too high for too long, or new lakefront homeowners dumped weed killers in the lake. I think it’s the high water that Tawakoni has had for so long. There for awhile the vegetation was so bad that it was almost unfishabke in some really good spots. Now the veggies are gone.... hello livescope!
