They are called Canker Worms or Inch Worms. They usually hatch early spring and are gone in about 3 to 4 weeks. There is a article in todays San Antonio Express News about them. mysa news on the web. thumb

They get super loud. When we fished for alligator gar the sound would travel down river then back in a wave. The ENTIRE time we were there, but worth it lol.
