What are the odds this actually passes?
I saw on the news yesterday every major Chief of Police in Texas showed up in Austin to say this was a terrible idea.
On one hand, I like it! I dont need no permit and to pay a fee to exercise my 2nd amendment right. However I know how to use a gun. Been shooting since I was a kid. Have had formal training and lots of practice.
This would allow people who dont know how to load a gun much less use it safely to also be walking around strapped. At least with a permit you have to prove you know how to load and unload it. And demonstrate you can shoot it with some reasonable amount of competence and have some understanding of what the laws are around carrying and use of deadly force.
I think for country folk (and folks like minded) its great! However for residents of certain areas of our metro cities... Not so sure its a great idea to just blanket allow dudes to carry concealed handguns.
I guess overall I would support it... but know there will be some fall out.
Back to my first question... Does this actually have a chance to pass or is it just fluff?

Wonder where they will make up all that revenue from? Those fees are not peanuts when you add up how many of these are issued a year and renewed.

Calling my state rep’s office today to voice my support for this bill.
Team wolfs I had to perform. It took a minute to get it all in my mouth and another five to swallow it all.

I know I will get beat up for this on here but as a Leo I look at this as great, more armed encounters! Some people have no business carrying a gun, especially around families. At least with concealed carry you had some level of training and basic instruction in deescalation.

Most of the idiots who have no business carrying a gun would probably be dumb enough to carry without the proper licensing. So you’re argument is moot.

What would really make me excited is if they started to implement a firearm education program in public schools.
