I moved to the Lindale area a few months ago and the crappie/panfish itch is hitting me pretty hard. I know I'm blessed to live near some phenomenal water with Lake Fork, Lake Palestine, Lake O' The Pines, and Caddo Lake all within a 2 hour drive of me, but I just have a basic jon boat with a small motor so I'm not exactly best prepared to handle large bodies of water yet. I'm not asking anyone to share any of their honeyholes or anything like that, but if yall can point me in the direction of smaller lakes near me or even educate me on parts of the larger lakes that are more suited to my equipment I would appreciate it. I'm not looking to catch any monsters, but just to fill a limit of white perch or some bream.

Thanks yall! It's good to be here.

I've driven around Lake Holbrook, but I haven't been able to find anyone who has ever fished it to give me feedback. I'll look into both of those!

I'll start by saying that I haven't fished these lakes. But here goes. As stated previously there's Holbrook and Winnsboro. In addition there's city lake in Grand Saline, a small lake in Canton (you may need a permit), Lake Quitman, Purtis Creek. Those are the ones i know off the top of my head. Check this link out to see many other small bodies of water around fork.

Any of those lakes will have creeks that you can fish in and stay off the main lake. I have a medium sized boat and I still don’t brave the open water if it’s very rough. I try to launch where I can avoid traveling a long way across the lake if I think it’s gonna get rough. Good luck !

I should have noticed you are brand new. I sent a private message you did not answer. On top right banner you should have a small blinking box. Click on that to get private messages. Good luck and Welcome

Try Bellwood Lake in Tyler, it's great for crappie.
