Going to fish next week for 3/4 days. Can anyone share any info on fishing for walleye or small mouth bass in either the Upper or Lower MFR> Last year I saw a nice size walleye caught out of Spillway Creek. I've heard the Upper MFR has an area called the Narrows where both walleye, smallmouth and white bass can be caught early in the year. Does anyone know much about this part of the river. We plan to fish for trout most of the 1st 2 days but plans can change if we find some decent action.
Thanks for any assistance!

PS- Happy to trade info if you need some information regarding the Upper & mid coast areas.
Mike

I’m pretty sure the walleye are just in the colder water from the lake down. Never targeted them before. If fishing spillway down to 70 bridge remember the new regulations about being barbless hooks.

Speaking of "new regulations"..does anyone know whether or not you still have to pay the $10 parking feeif you are staying in the state park?

I’m almost positive if you are paying to camp you don’t. I know if you have a park cabin or rv spot you don’t and I’m pretty sure a primitive campsite you don’t

If you pay for a campsite or RV, you do not need a parking pass, as you have to register your car when you reserve a camp. very few walleye from the lake down to powerhouse. If you hit the generation right, they come in to feed when the water comes up. Some walleye down in zone 3 as well. Zone 3 has smallies too, but the UMF is better if you have access to a kayak or canoe. White bass up there will eat anything if you find them. They might be spawning right now....

The parking is turning into a real money maker for the park. They even have a meter maid driving around writing tickets...LOL Each ticket is $20. We saw several people getting tickets.
The trout fishing was excellent last weekend. Friday and Saturday we found nice hatches coming off and caught some nice rainbows on size 18 Parachute Adams. Decent size fish !
