I am looking for a new, but not state of the art, fish finder/GPS. I do not need all of the newest bells and whistles, so I am looking at two prospects. Does anyone have any experience with either of these?
1) Lowrance Hook2 9 Splitshot with US Lake maps 2) Garmin Striker Plus 9sv GPS Fish finder
Screen clarity in the sun is a big thing for me.

I have the Lowrance Hook2 12, same basic unit as the 9. Have been very pleased with it, have no trouble seeing it when the sun hits it. Being an old HB user, I had to do some learning but it's pretty user friendly. I had the Garmin on another boat and let it go when I sold it, it worked but I didn't really like it, not as user friendly as the Lowrance. Only thing I added was the Navionics chip for mapping, but the US Lake maps will work, I just liked the more detail in the Navionics.
