I'm curious about your favorite launch sites close to Austin for good bass fishing. I'm 20 minutes from Festival Beach on Lady Bird, so that's usually my go to. I really want to learn the area around Boat Ramp 11, where the Guad empties into Canyon, but I've only been out there a couple of times earlier this year w/minimal success. When I want to brave the boat traffic on Lake Austin, I usually hit Quinlan. All that said, I'm hitting the Colorado (putting in @973 bridge) w/about 10 guys this weekend for a 20 miler, so that will be fun.

What's your goto?

Only fished Decker in the Austin area... believe there is only one ramp. Try that lake, its good!

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

Colorado River has a good population of bass from Longhorn dam all the way down to Columbus, TX. I've done a few overnight trips and day trips along different sections of the Colorado and was able to catch bass all along the way. I have better luck with rivers and creeks than lakes. There's fish in Onion Creek too. Check out Austin Bassin' on you tube. That guy has Austin bass fishing figured out.

I rarely fish for bass but when I do it's Decker. Bastrop is not what it used to be.
