BASS is looking to the future. This kind of thing will be popular with the Googan generation of bass heads. Doubtful that they’re trying to be the next Madden NFL, but it will attract some new blood into the fishing world. Will it translate to actual participants in the real fishing world? Who knows.

I've played this game with Scott Martin on the cover a few times and it's pretty fun, but definitely not very realistic (which is why its fun).

I agree, it is BASS looking to the future. It’s also sponsorship gold for them. They can offer their sponsors and their products placement within the game, just like all the major golf equipment and apparel brands get placed in TW Golf. The timing is perfect. The key will be, is the developer up to the job in the design and execution of the game. Not only is this going to be a revenue source for BASS, it absolutely solidifies them as the leader in the industry. There has never been a better time for an angler to be involved with and affiliated with BASS. Getting themselves put into a video game is going to be sponsorship gold!

However you slice it it's still bass fishing. It's Like a tennis game or rodeo haha. It's such a small interest level they may sell some but it'll never be madden basketball/baseball interest. They've been making fishing games for decades. Very few are worth it. The simms pro game was the best imo

I agree interest is small compared to the NFL or NBA but those sports are multi-team/city competitions. I equate this venture more like the TW golf type genre of games. Yes, there are other golf games out there, but the TW game seems to have encompassed all the right mechanics and design, and it’s partnered with the PGA. It really depends on the design.. some video games just aren’t very good for a number of reasons. It will be important for them to get some parts of this very well designed, like the operation and performance of the bass boats. That will be half the fun for some people. To me, it’s all about how BASS can incorporate their anglers, and sponsors. If it’s a one and done type of game.. it’s going to be toast... if it’s updated annually like some of the other big names I think it will do well. Who is on the cover each year will become a big thing on its own!

I tried numerous fishing video games growing up and I only ever enjoyed 2 of them. One was on my GameBoy Advance and then the other was one of those handheld bass fishing games with the reel handle on the side. 90% of them suck lol.

Thats my money fish

Will you spend 3/4 of the game idling around graphing or will they take that part out?

I haven't seen anything negative in this thread.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

I think 3/4 would be a bit much, but that kind of thing shouldn’t be removed. Making it as realistic as possible is key. I think there should be maps of the waterways shadowing the “official approved navigation channels” but yet for the risk takers there be findable and memorized shortcuts through stump fields, etc... but also be perfectly possible to trash your boat and engine, therefore setting you back in the game, if you think you can just ignore maps and posted navigation channels and water levels. If done right, BASS will market to all the electronics makers and have their units available within the game... for a price of course, just like in real life. If playing as an angler you can buy or earn a certain piece gear through sponsorships, etc...

Again, it going to all be in the design and graphical details... with the way technology and processing power is today, especially on those game platforms, there is no reason why they can’t incorporate some very realistic animations and gaming mechanics. It then becomes a balance of how much “instant gratification” do you implement into any given part. Some people won’t even play it if there isn’t a mode where they can’t skip directly to the big rewards.

This is a lot bigger of a thing than I think some are giving credit... by it having the year in the name lends to the possibility this is going to be a multi-year deal with annual updates where changing of anglers, sponsors, waterways, and other personalities is going to very much part of the plan. Sponsorship gold! These tackle and equipment manufacturers are going to be scrambling to have their brands/products showcased in the game.

This is a joke right? Not the game but the impact you think it will make....trolling BASS again. Enjoy the 13lb bags on the Sabine this week. I’ll be watching more Heavy Hitters myself.
