When do the shad normally start spawning I am thinking mid to late April is this correct? Also one person told me he thinks the cold snap killed a lot of shad. Seems to me they would just go deeper during that time. Any opinions on this part?

Typically late April and Early May. I don't think the shad were bothered by the cold on Gvine. If they were, it's a good thing as there are way too many shad in this lake.

Three egrets and I were checking out the north shoreline this morning. Fished about 15 minutes, caught one white. Did not see the birds catch any shad. Maybe one more week, maybe two.

Go drive thru the meadomere park flat (by the swim area).. It is saturated with shad, the whole corner is a mass of shad balls on the side image..
