It’s that time again, mud wrens roosting and nest building over my boat slip. Any effective solutions. .? About ready to breakout the BB gun. I put up some shiney streamers. They worked for a few days.
Thanks Mo

Think you could rig a motion sensor sprinkler up in the rafters? Not something you'd want permanently, but it may be worth some damp for a couple weeks. $40 on Amazon

I would condition them to moving on by knocking down the nests. They will move to a different dock or to a bridge.

I think removing nest site daily will have to do. The long strips of holographic streamers worked for about a week. now they ignore them. The covered area over the boat slip is maybe 450 square ft. Lots of rafters and supports. Spikes or gel on all surfaces would take a long time to install ( I don't work on ladders anymore)
thanks

^^^^^ this Keep knocking the nests down and they'll eventually give up . Do it daily so you don't take the chance of having eggs in the nest .

Paint the area blue. The birds will think it's the sky, and won't try to build.

Does this thing work on nesting birds? I've got a persistent robin trying to build a nest on my porch, despite the wind blowing the nest material off the rafter within hours. Been at it for 3 days now, and I am tired of the mess. Will the gel work on wood? Do you just leave it in a bead, or does it need to be spread out over the whole surface?

Just do the bead. I put it up on my porch 3 years ago and the birds still won't attempt to build a nest up there.

Here is the cheap and working solution. Take some of those lizards from your tackle (you know you have plenty) and place them in the places where they are building nest. Pin or glue the lizard down otherwise, they will move it and continue to build. This works with worms but lizards work the best. Trust me, those birds will leave and never return.
