Is there an after market prop for the ghost yet. The original isnt impressive and seems to be small. The hard plastic appears that it will break easily.

Nope, not sure how people are breaking them. Mines been smashed onto trees, stumps and gravel, barely even chipped the edge.

Read your post on BBC too, I’m a bit puzzled how those guys are breaking them so easily. Maybe I try to take better care of my $3k trolling motor??? I don’t know...

Hey Grout,

I currently have an Ultrex, but am thinking about moving to Lowrance products and the Ghost. Got a few questions for ya if you don't mind:
What did you have before the Ghost?
Best thing about the Ghost?
What's the worst thing about your Ghost?
Are you running 36 or 24 volt?
How big is your boat?
Lithium batteries?
Any issues with it at all?

Thanks bud!
Randy

Had a fortrex and before that a terrova. MG Tours before that.

Best thing? It is great on battery life, like being able to change 24v/36v. Typically quiet when turning. Spotlock seems tight most days, sucks when it’s calm. Weighs a few pounds less than the Ultrex, my boat doesn’t like bow weight. I like the foot pedal, has a solid feel too it, hated the Terrova pedal.

Worst? Price sucks! I bought mine on sale, helped the pain some. When I hit something like a tree, it makes a god awful chattering noise. A lot of guys say that it sucks in grass, I find it to be about the same as my Fortrex, ghost might be a tad better at slow speeds in hydrilla. It will almost always back up 5’-7’ ft when hitting anchor mode, then pull forward, annoying sometimes. Wish it had the compass setting that my Terrova had, you point it a direction and it stays that direction no matter what. (Ultrex prob has it)

19’8” Champion

Cheap Walmart MAXX 29’s, want lithiums, but don’t want to replace my charger too. (Tightwad)

If you ever get down to Choke on weekends, you’re welcome to try mine. And if you buy a ghost, make sure you put some kind of thread locker on the scissor pivot arm bolts.

The Lowrance prop is excellent in grass. Best I have ever had.

So are you running 24 or 36? If it will pull a 20' Eyra around in high wind I'm thinking about going Lithium 24 volt.

Missed that one, I’m running 24v. I haven’t had any issues, but I don’t tournament fish anymore. 24v seems to have plenty of power, I typically run on 2-3 speed.

36v lithium would be the cats meow, if you needed all that power, can’t imagine an Eyra is all that heavy though.

Ive been running the Ghost for awhile now and only thing ive noticed was the backing up anchor mode issue. not really a problem per say. I've had 3 Ultrex, a Fortex and a Ulterra on my Z520 Ranger. Lots of problems with Minn Kota's except Fortrex. I carry it as a spare in case needed. Ive been running 3 100ah Ionic for trolling motor and love them! MK460PC charger will fully charge within a couple hours. The Ghost has more power than other trolling motors used, very quite, deploys easy without loud banging and does everything the others would do and then some. Mates up with Carbon HDS easy and app up grads can be done with phone. If you run newer Lowrance graphs then Ghost is the way to go. Lithiums save lots of weight, charge fast and provide power all day! The Ghost MUST be mounted level starboard to port. Some boat easier than others.
