Upgraded electronics to newer Lowrance products. Currently have an Ultrex but switching to the Ghost for Active Target. For you Ghost users trying to see if I can run only on 24v and eliminate a battery. If it will handle 20 or 21 foot boats in the wind or not. Running an 20'2" Eyra and if I can go down to 3 batteries total I'm going all lithium. So a few questions I've asked from Grout Scout. (thanks again for the feedback Grout!)

I would like this to come from only those who are using the Ghost or have had one and changed. Thanks TFF!

1) What's the best thing about your Ghost?
2) What's the worst thing about your Ghost?
3) How big a boat are you running and are you using 24volt?
4) Will it fit back in the same holes as an Ultrex?
5) What type/size batteries are you running particularly if you're doing it with lithiums.

On that boat I say yes. I ran 2 cougar ftd on 24v and never a problem. The ghost has more power and is more efficient.

yes! I ran my 21i on 24 volt on my Ghost when I first got it. I thought "man this thing is strong"... about a month later I realized it was only on 24. it will damn near throw me out of the boat on 36v!

I have questioned whether I should go back to 24V on it because it had less washout when hitting the anchor button. I may end up doing just that, and replacing that extra batt with a Lithium specifically for my graphs and livescope.

I might need to recalibrate mine, today it was backing up several feet and then pulling back up to the spot where I wanted to spotlock. Pretty annoying when it does this, it was doing it bad today, too windy to try & calibrate though.

Awesome boys. Just what I wanted to know! Lithiums here I come! My back will appreciate it! Any of you running lithiums for your starting battery as well?

so Petro and Skeeter, what's the best AND worst thing about your Ghost (other than price...I'm familiar with that pain!)

worst... have had to recalibrate a few times due to it starting to drift in large circles on anchor.

best.. mount is heavy duty. cable to head unit is flexible.

only issue I have had was it would lose connection from pedal to the head unit. I was told to clean batt connections... I did, they were corroded, and it fixed the issue.

I have a '97 nitro 21ft and run 24 volt, have been in wind stronger than I wanted to fish (25+ sustained) and it held us within 6ft even with the motor coming out of the water from waves. Even in a good wind I have never used any higher than level 3 when moving along banks or points. I have turned it up higher to go from spot to spot but would never be able to fish at that speed, I wont add another battery for it, much better use that weight / space to have one dedicated to electronics

Awesome! I'm only running two graphs so probably won't need a 4th battery any more. 3 Lithiums oughta do it. Now I just gotta find some!

If anyone has bought one in since January, let me know what kind of price and where you bought it. PM if you want to keep that private.

Me too. I have a BassCat Cougar loaded heavy with tackle and I went from the Ultrex 24 to the Ghost 24 and the Ghost is way stronger and quieter. It will pull my boat at 3.1mph at full speed.
I use group 31 lead acid batteries for the T/M.

So you had it wired for 36V but the motor was in set in 24V mode? I'm surprised you didn't damage it. They say don't do that!
