I feel your pain, the river is up over the banks, and the lakes are rising......no telling when we are going to be able to get out there

No, it has a spillway, but it's getting more water flowing in then they are letting out.

or in the case of our lakes, downstream got flooded as well, so they can't let enough water out to do any good without causing more issues downstream

I was jetskiing on the Elm Fork Trinity last week after the rains when it was pretty full. Denton creek (the water from Grapevine dam) flows into the Elm Fork and i recorded some video of the large flow of water coming in.

Here's a video link:

No wonder there was so much water with the lake being that full.

The "spillway" is the area north of the dam. The "gates" or "flood gates" are what they can control the flow of water with in the dam. I do not think it has gone over the spillway yet? Does anyone know how high above pool it has to be to go over? I was wondering if Lewisville was close also.

What park(s) were the pics from? I wonder if the new high water ramp at Katies woods is usable now? Last Summer I thought that was a total waste of money. It may end up being the only ramp open on the lake. Go figure!

The last flood we were approx 12ft high and the water never made it over the spillway. I love the Vine when its flooded!!! There just isnt anywhere to release the water to without flooding downstream, so it will take a while to get it back to normal pool. That means with gates open and florida largemouth you can expect the fish to be scattered like crazy and nosed into the bushes waiting for a jig!!
