 What type of carp are thrashing the shallows at Conroe?

I have been seeing lots of carp thrashing around in the shallows in lake Conroe. I assume these are common carp spawning since the triploid grass carp are sterile and would not spawn, right? Or do the triploid carp go through the motions of spawning even if they are sterile?

This is also the time of year for the sucker spawn. If they're mostly shorter than 18inches, I'd say that's what they were.

Good chance they are Common Carp.

Grab your rod, set it up for catfish, place your baits @ 10 - 15ft from the bank and hold on. If you don't have a catfish on your line in 1 min or less, either move or cast into another spot.
