This is my first report since January. Fish turned off in February - especially after the 2-degree weather. I have made a short scouting trip every 4 or 5 days since then to see if fish have come back. I found some a couple of weeks ago at 60 Acre Hump, but nowhere else. Today I did a major scouting run from the dam all the way up to Sunken Island and found fish in several places. I caught 70 keepers - all white bass. Some were in 19 to 22 fow, and I caught them fishing straight down. Others were in 13 to 17 fow, and I caught them casting out and working the bait back to the boat along the bottom. I caught fish at Sam's Hump, Long Ridge, Long Ridge West, Key Ranch Drop-off, Key Ranch North, Spillway Hump, Campbell's Hump, and Dam Ridge West of the Pole. I caught all fish on a #4 silver Mepps spinner.

Thanks for the report. Was wondering where you had been. I have not been out this year yet. Tempting to quit my full time job and fish during the week when the weather is beautiful, and work weekends when it always seems to be windy as heck or a chance of rain. Can't wait till retirement time !!! Wish it were closer.

Great news for those of us that fish docks at night. We caught em great 2 weeks ago, then this last front seemed to move them away, but I know when you are catching them in the main lake, we catch them on the docks. Thanks for the update.

Thanks for the report Dennis! Where do those guys go when they spawn? Do they make their way up the far reaches of each branch that feeds the lake, i.e. Clear Creek, Caney Creek and others? How far will they actually go? I can get them while they are schooled up deep, but usually write off the spawn. Thanks for all the info you post on here and glad to see you are still at it!

SSutton: Many if not most go up the creeks to spawn in running water, but many stay in the main lake and spawn on wind-blown points and shallow humps. I think the ones going up the creeks are already there and the ones that stay in the lake are on the points and humps - like the ones where I caught them last week. The females I caught were bulging with eggs.

Thanks Dennis, I just thought instinctively they would move around, but I guess proof is in the pudding! I see all of these posts where people are beating the banks in creeks and having success from the spawn. I guess those are just local fish moving from deep to shallow and easier to target. Thanks again.
