I was down there a couple of weeks ago. The ramp is usable.

I may actually be able to go fishing this weekend, couple of questions; any suggestions for crappie areas? I will be tubing and dont have a fish finder on it as of yet. Second not crappie related but are the blues and channels spawning at this time? I would suspect the blues would be uplake if so, is there access for a tuber there?

thanks
ben

Crappie in the sticks and the cats at west end of the lake. Click the link to JBT fishing in my signature and there's a map on my website with all the hot spots.

Several nice Ccats from the west end flooded veg. flipping cutbait and working it like a jig nice and easy. They would slam it!! All in the early a.m. 3' 5' depth. No crappie, just those 2-5lb. Ccats and Blues.

I am hoping to go out to JBT for my first trip this weekend. What are the chances of setting a few juglines up in the west end and how deep is it up there? Are there many people fishing with juglines or mostly rod and reel or trotlines?

Yeah, there's some fish to be caught. Lots of people catfishing and a few doing well spooning the whites. Finding some crappie on brushpiles and dropoffs, but they haven't really recovered from the spawn, late as it is. Haven't started fattening up on the shad. No big numbers, but some fairly nice fish.

The one rule that always works for me in the lakes I fish in this area: A lot of fish will follow the brush. If it was in 10' before the rise and now it's 14', there will be fish on it. But in the summer, there will usually be better fish in the 9'-13' range, regardless of rises or declines. It is a rule that has served me well at JB, Stamford, Albany, Miller Creek, and most all the lakes around here. Might scout out brush or trees in that range, see if it works for you.
