What’s your go to? I’ve always was taught to fish shallow and fish hardwood. After getting 3.5-4” inches of rain in a matter of 30 minutes or so the Ribbit went from 10ft low to almost going over the spillway. I know fishing is gonna be tough next few weeks. You guys toss me a few bones.

That's great it filled back up. White Chatterbait would be the first thing I would try. Do you fish from a boat?

Go shallow and hit any cover available... Spinnerbait with a single Colorado blade for thump... Black/ Blue jig... Chartreuse with black back square bill... Dan

1st. choice, 1/2 or 3/4 oz. spinnerbait with 1 big Colorado blade, preferably chartreuse with a copper , gold or cht. blade. 2nd choice, the big chartreuse square bill that Strike King makes ( I have about 8 or 9, but can't call the name) 3rd. choice some black colored flippin jig with a med.- large black or brown or blue trailer. As far as jig goes, I prefer black &brown with a few strands of chart. or blk. & blue with a little chart. Keep in mind these are just MY, favorites for this time of year in East Texas, for the conditions you described. And as far as I'm concerned an abundance of NEW muddy water ( especially if it's 5+ degrees cooler) are some of the most dreaded conditions. In my opinion and exp. I hope this helps, GOOD LUCK.

This is from 30 years ago when I fished 50-60 days a year. Brown jig w/some kind of orange claw crawfish trailer. May add scent or a rattle if you can. That’s pretty extreme but if all else fails try it. Contrast your colors on the jig/spinnerbait if you don’t have a brown jig.

Meh. Fishing the exact same conditions right now. None of the above. Black blue senko dirt shallow and a pop’n frog in shallow pools. We’re catching them in a foot of water when the wind not blowing and the sun is out.
