They have sold Googan. Not sure how much of it or what the firms name is. Luke Dunkin and Dave Mercer had Rob on their podcast and that is what he told them. They are still a part of Googan but not sure to how much extent. Before long I think 3 or 4 entities will own the whole fishing industry. I heard something about the buy-out also... anyone can sell a banjo minnow on a million dollar marketing budget Yep ^^^^^

The soft plastics are rebrands from the same factory that makes Strike King. no So, are you telling me they aren't made by Southern Plastics, manufactures tures 70+% of the plastics on the market? I strongly remember that when they started, they had a big roll out at Fun-N-Sun's tackle show a couple of years ago. I also remember that they coordinated with Steve O. and licensed his designs for Strike King (Rage Brands). They got away from the rage flange, its slightly different I think a "V" flange, my guess was the patent royalties were not cheap.

damn....I was gonna come in and defend their plastics since I loaded up on them when they first came out....but now they are pricier than strike king. When they first came out they were the same price as SK for the most part...rage craws to be more specific (what I bought). Then you could do the Karls Club free trial, and back then they let you stack that membership discount with ongoing sales. After all was said and done I loaded up on their cracken craw, and bandito bug for about 30% off prices that were the same as SK....thats why I went with googan baits for the action craws. Karls club also has the saw craw....which was like $3 when they first rolled it out. Loaded up on them too cuz they are rage craw like too.....just with less marketing.
And basically...they are just as good as zoom, strike king, berkley (not maxscent) and ALL big box brands.....and are essentially the Strkie King-like brand actively marketed to younger and more tech savvy people. Im comparing them to SK not only because of the business relationship...but also because they make pretty much all tackle at this point and hope to be a one stop shop brand for those younger generations they are marketed too.
Googan isnt any better or worse than any other mass produced baits....and is also likely produced at the same place. If you say they actually are better...check yourself youre probably, definitely being a fanboy. If you say they are actually worse...check yourself youre probably, definitely being a hater on others success. That is the 100% God's honest truth. Its hillarious all the hate you see...cuz it is literally the same thing. People saying you can only catch one fish....OK, go buy big bite baits stuff a lot of their plastic is hard as [censored]. Not sure youre catch rate will be the same......doesnt seem to work out when you compare GYCB Senkos to all the Stick bait knock offs. Sure they all catch...but softer plastic has its place, just the same as harder plastic....lets quit lying...I know all your boats got Senkos in them! LOL The "stole" 6th sense designs is funny too. If they "stole" anything 6th sense could sue them any time.....but know they wont win since there is basically nothing original in the crankbait world at this point...just rebranding the same concept....that is the undeniable truth. I dont fish their hardbaits...but Im not against fishing them either.
NOW....with all that said, they (cracken craws) are 50 cents more expensive than strike king now....im buying the cheapest version of the bait that does what I want it to do. i dont care what name the packaging says on it....i just care about catching fish first, and my wallet/budget second LOL The brand loyalty is so weird in fishing....NO COMPANY does everything well, so why limit yourself so your stuff matches? Never made sense to me.

BOOM and im the one who started this post and think that last statement says it all and educates at the same time cause ya everything is basically the same now other than some color patterns work better than others cause IMO the Berkley black and blue fleck is the best black and blue fleck color and someone might say im wrong I guess just throw what your most confident in cause we all have our go to baits that will put fish in the boat regardless of the conditions so on that note...
what's yalls opinions on their rods

what's yalls opinions on their rods im of the opinion you should buy your rods from rod companies ๐คทโโ๏ธ I been slowly fanboying Phenix rods after i got a feather a year or so back But really, im not a fan of buying rods from a tackle company, e.g. Megabass, 6th sense, etc...ill even go as far as saying Daiwa rods wont be high on my list even though i love their reels. totally fanboying LOL...but those phenix are great for the price in terms of sensitivity...its my understanding lots of rod makers use phenix blanks on custom builds. Not that great as a meat stick, and they dont really have a glass composite line (from what i remember) for cranking...but everything else they can cover. Gonna crank with one of their MHs tomorrow and lets see how that tips works on keeping them pegged

Googan sucks! Will some of their stuff catch fish yes. For the price though, there are so many better options. Also a lot more cost-effective. I am fine with their videos but their equipment sucks for the price.

I'll fan boy them all day ended up trying one during one of the TW sales after a fb friend recommended them...who wasnt Phenix Pro staff!!! LOL Really loved it, and ive bought 2 more since. Got one of their spinning rods too and im impressed with that side of things too! Im about to start chugging the koolaid....im the same with Daiwa! The buyout ruined my OG favorite Lews and that daiwa impresses me the more I challenge it just like the phenix gear. Gonna have to load up before Shimano buys phenix like they did to loomis! LOL

Googan is garbage! Overpriced and donโt last. Way better options for far less money.
