Went for a weekend hiking and fishing trip to both Chalk Ridge Falls @ Stillhouse Hollow Reservoir and to nearby Miller Springs Park @ Lake Belton. We fished under the Stillhouse Hollow spillway the first day without much luck other than a couple channel cats. The second day we spent the morning hiking the various trails in Miller Springs Park, and set up shop below the Belton spillway shortly after noon. Since the river isn't very wide and wasn't flowing, we were able to freeline bread and corn without any weight, and eventually hooked into a carp. Unfortunately I didn't have a scale with me, but he was clearly bigger than my previous PB, which I caught around this same time last year from Yegua Creek. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.ibb.co/w6rFkbw/IMG-20210315-180049022-HDR.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://i.ibb.co/RSL9QRd/IMG-20210315-180158149.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://i.ibb.co/98Dbcyy/IMG-20210315-180138128-2.jpg) I posted a video of the release on Fishbrain, I'll leave the link below. We'll definitely be making a return to this spot. Also, in case anyone is wondering, the hiking trails at both Chalk Ridge and Miller Springs are great! https://link.fishbrain.com/SYTp

Congrats on the PB! It's all about location, if you fish where there are small fish you're unlikely to beat it. Keep exploring and I bet you'll keep breaking that PB
