Was in a fast food place a while back and a guy was ooen carrying. He had zero situational awareness. He chose a table that people had to go by to get to drink machines. He sat with the weapon in the open aisle on his hip and was oblivious to people walking beside him. Weapon would have been easy to grab while he played on his phone and ate.

But hey, he looked cool with his flag patch hat, smedium Affliction shirt and his yellow tinted Oakleys.

The tactical advantage argument always makes me pause. Tactically speaking, both open and concealed offer different advantages and weaknesses. The tactical advantage of concealed carry comes from a situation in which you can get to cover or hidden enough where you can draw your weapon unseen, and then ambush the bad guy.

But in a situation where a bad guy is coming at you and you have to get to your gun before they get to you, then open carry is by far the best option.

Either way, it is imperative that you practice your draw. Practice sitting, standing, and from a prone position on the floor. Practice drawing and acquiring a target. Practice drawing and squeezing off an aimed shot. Practice practice practice.

If your gun is double action, the laser snap caps make a great practice/training tool.

For those that have taken the course and conceal carry into places that don't allow guns. Are you worried about going to jail if you're caught?

Well, in real world terms, you'd most likely get a trespass warning i.e. told to leave. If the property owner wanted to prosecute, it would be a class C misdemeanor. If you were stubborn and refused to leave, it's a class A misdemeanor.

I wouldn't want either one on my record.

After I get the muscle memory of drawing my gun unloaded, I wonder if there are shooting ranges okay with me practicing drawing my weapon and firing down range at a target
