Personally I did not take a ltc class and won’t. IMO that’s a sure fire way for Hoe and Joe to find you.
I saw a very big drop in domestic shootings / terror attacks under Trump and now they will rise again.
The true terrorists will attack malls and shopping areas targeting women and children , in places where you are not allowed to carry.

As the old saying goes I’d rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6

Was in a fast food place a while back and a guy was ooen carrying. He had zero situational awareness. He chose a table that people had to go by to get to drink machines. He sat with the weapon in the open aisle on his hip and was oblivious to people walking beside him. Weapon would have been easy to grab while he played on his phone and ate.

But hey, he looked cool with his flag patch hat, smedium Affliction shirt and his yellow tinted Oakleys.

I hate that guy. It's a-holes like that that make me leery of ever wearing a shirt with an American flag. I don't want to be associated with that level of douchebaggery.

I am not bothered by open carry people. I don't get all scared about it. I believe in the 2nd amendment and open and concealed carry.

When open carry first became legal I went into the local HEB with my stainless 1911 on my hip. I was watching for reactions from the people around me, but the only person who seemed to notice was the high school aged girl at the checkout. She said "nice pistol" and smiled. Gotta love small town Texas. But normally I carry concealed.

Concealed, not advertising it

I think open carry shows your hand. If someone is going to mug you using a weapon they will shoot or stab first knowing you have the weapon.
Concealed carry has the element of surprise which is to your advantage.
Also I worry about being in a crowd and someone behind me trying to take the gun.
You wouldn't wear your wallett on a clip outside for the world to see.

I’m not a fan of open carry. The bad guys know you are packing.

But in a situation where a bad guy is coming at you and you have to get to your gun before they get to you, then open carry is by far the best option.

Either way, it is imperative that you practice your draw. Practice sitting, standing, and from a prone position on the floor. Practice drawing and acquiring a target. Practice drawing and squeezing off an aimed shot. Practice practice practice.

If your gun is double action, the laser snap caps make a great practice/training tool.

After I get the muscle memory of drawing my gun unloaded, I wonder if there are shooting ranges okay with me practicing drawing my weapon and firing down range at a target

For those that have taken the course and conceal carry into places that don't allow guns. Are you worried about going to jail if you're caught?

Well, in real world terms, you'd most likely get a trespass warning i.e. told to leave. If the property owner wanted to prosecute, it would be a class C misdemeanor. If you were stubborn and refused to leave, it's a class A misdemeanor.

I wouldn't want either one on my record.

Yep. But in the 21 years I have had my LTC and been carrying concealed at most times, I have never, ever, been asked if I had a firearm on me, nor have I been subjected to a search. Like Zeek says, if by chance you printed or shirt lifts and someone sees it, they would likely ask you to leave. I generally don't patronize any business that prevents me from LEGALLY carrying concealed. Sprouts can shove it, they have nothing I need in there anyway.

It is against the rules at any public range I've ever been at. That's why I like the laser snap cap.

Like this one.

Anyone know anyone that open carries a decoy and conceal carries the real deal?
