depends on the person.
my oldest son is not allowed to drive any of my vehicles. He could eff up a bowling ball with a cotton swab. My youngest can borrow anything I have.

I only loan vehicles to people who have full coverage insurance or that I know will be able to replace it if something happens. Plus telling them my insurance does not allow others to drive my truck and I am busy that day and can't help you move your [censored].

If a family member needs me to haul something for them in my truck, I don't mind.

If a friend or neighbors asks me to haul a trailer for them, I don't mind (assuming Ihave the time).

But nobody borrows my truck.

Depends on who it is and what the circumstances are. I usually offer to drive it for whatever they need. I also have the benefit of owning a pickup with a manual transmission, which limits the number of people who can drive it.

I agree with Bob: they should just rent one from Uhaul or Home Depot. I think they’re pretty cheap.

My wife falls in that category. I get so frustrated when my free time is occupied by fixing things she broke. bang

Several months ago, my daughter and family (husband and two little boys) decided they wanted to go camping (bumper pull Camper). They did not have a truck and asked to borrow mine. I reluctantly said yes. They had a great time and told they wanted to do it again real soon. I told them I would sell them my old truck (for a very good price). They really needed a reliable second vehicle. That gave me the opportunity to buy a brand new 2021 4X4 truck with my wife's blessing. So now I do not have to worry about what they are doing with my truck and they can go camping any time they want. In fact they are camping this week while the boys (at least the older one) is out of school and I can still go fishing.

I have never loan my truck, car, tractor or boat. I loaned my flatbed trailer once.

It`s just like loaning money. Good way for hard feelings.

I don’t even let my wife drive my truck. I do, however, let my fishing partner back me in and park it! Lol

You can't hurt a borrowed truck.

If it's a friend sure no problem. I've been lucky enough in life for the most part to have friends of high character if something were to go wrong I know they do the right thing.

To an acquaintance or a neighbor probably not. but I would certainly offer to drive it for them if they needed to pick up an item.

But that's like a one-time thing for an associate... if it becomes habitual no way.

I wouldn't hesitate to let you and PeaceSignDan borrow it. I'm not sure either of you can handle it though.
