Thanks Mike. I finally retired my Grandad's Zebco 33 to an easier life: crappie fishing. I figure at 65 years old, it deserves a rest (to a point). Who knows how long they'll go?

Grandad's Zebco: 1956 (the most beautiful of them all - all chrome), no anti-reverse, just a clicker.

My younger 1960's 33's continue to reel the big boys and girls in.

Love the old gear and stories; traditions... Below is a slightly enhanced shot of your Gramps and his pup:

Thanks Blue Moon, I didn't see you had done that. In your photo I can see the way he is "sitting" - many would go around behind him to see the invisible chair. Did that into his late 70's - my knees hurt just thinking about it!

Had to look this one up as I've never caught one with a stripe. Albino (does reproduce) - a black crappie version.

Thanks guys - the crappies have slowed here considerably to the summertime pattern but we're still getting a couple a day from shooting shaded docks. The good thing about the shallow water loners is they're very large in the summertime. We're shooting docks that have lights overnight - seems to hold them.

Thanks Alan!

Came across this (not caught today) - a big bass from back in the day (about 1973):

[Linked Image]

Obviously fixing to steak it out. Just another one . . .

Caught on the same Zebco I'm using now and Devil's Horse (fishing from the bank out). All my big fish but 2 have been on the Devil's Horse - those 2 on plastic worms.

Proof positive that a good angler doesn't need a $400.00 rig to pull in nice bass. Good job!!

Biden famously said in the New York Observer, “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

This morning, caught a bunch of these little guys for the fryer. Big ones come creeks in mid Feb - 2 week April (cold winter, a couple weeks later, hot winter they'll start filtering out of the creeks and spawning in the big lake by last week of March.. The little ones still taste good though.
