We fished one of our favorite spots that had been closed due to covid. We were in the water at 8 and by 8:05 we already had a fish in the boat and the catching just kept on. Lots and lots and lots of small bass biggest maybe 2lbs.








We caught some big red ears that were in there spawn colors the tips of their bottom fins were black and we actually watched one fanning its nest






It must be spring the rios are out. We caught 5 with 3 over 10in they were extremely strong and full of fight.







The black crappie are in full spawn over here all dressed in their tuxedos. They were holding on the edges of weed beds in 2 to 5fow.









I caught a couple of white crappie in the 14in range fishing brush piles in 20fow. They showed no hints of spawn colors.


Also a few catfish were caught by laydowns in 2fow right off the edge.



Also caught a warmouth.


All fish were caught using either a 1/32 , 1/16 or 1/8 oz JIGLYF jigs. It was a year in waiting, but well worth it. . We caught a total of 167 fish. We kept a few crappie to have a fish fry for my SIL when she comes down to visit. The rest of the fish were released to swim another day.

WOW, another great post all with beautiful pics. Sure glad you found some Rio Grande Cichlids. I've been on the look out for them but have yet to see any. Lots of male sunfish with there spawning colors are getting ready in the creeks, with a few on the nests left by the Bass. Thanks again for sharing.

And all caught on the "FAMOUS JIGLYF JIGS" ! I am amazed the variety of fish you and Gar1970 have been catching on every water body you are fishing, using nothing but your jigs. Keep up the great work. Your jigs seem to be proving themselves over and over again.



Side Note: Your Rios are the first I have seen since the GREAT FREEZE! They usually start to move this time of year and really get active as time goes on. How deep were the Rios? Again great post and some super fish. I also love the crappie and the Warmouth.

Thanks Laker One!, our jigs are doing so well that they even amaze us! We were happy to see rios on the other end of our lines. They are so pretty. They were down pretty deep at least 10ft except for one that was by a log along the bank.

Also love those late winter Rios. Hope those Rios are a good sign of a great Rio year!
