I saw a pic (can’t get it to download) and it looked fantastic! Big plump pork-looking sausages sitting on top of creamy mashed potatoes all smothered with some kind of dark gravy. Supposed to be a big thing across the pond.

Ever eat it? If so, does it taste anywhere close to as good as it looks?

You're gonna make him upchuck, he's on the pineapple juice.

I have tried it at a local restaurant called Across the Pond. I wasn’t super impressed honestly. I felt like it would have been better if I had just grilled some brats at home and server them sliced over homemade mashed potatoes. I suppose it is all about how good the sausage is though.

This is correct. Bangers and mash is highly dependent on the quality of the sausage and gravy.
Pork sausages are the most traditional. Always preferred mine served with grilled onions.
Proper British gravy is made from the sausage drippings, the fat left over from the bacon that was cooked in the morning, and flour.
Mashed potatoes are difficult to screw up unless you over cook and over whip them.
